Front pads

Postby PatrickH » Fri Apr 06, 2012 9:56 am

Had service warning light coming on for 2 or 3 weeks and counting down - turns out it's just warning that front pads are nearing wear limit, but we have about 1000 miles left.

It's only done 12500 miles and I heva NEVER got through pads that quickly on anything before.

Ideas ?

I have Cooper S ALL4 with 30k on and have yet to change any pads which I find amazing. I have, however, had a faulty sensor replaced on the brake pads. After the first service at about 20k it showed I had 3500 miles to go which then never moved. I would have the sensors checked.

I did over 12,500 miles from the point at which the OBC condition based sensor said the fronts needed to be replaced to the point where the "real" sensor kicked in and they "really" needed replaced at appx 25000 miles.... These I did myself for the princely sum of £60 including a new wear sensor. The OBC just guestimates the pad wear from teh number of miles driven and it is, quite frankly, crap!
